I love learning from amazing people who achieve their goals and enable them to go far beyond their original concept of themselves. It makes me wonder, how do they do it?

With inward reflection, I realized that whenever I have achieved a goal that required a significant amount of time and energy over a number of years (investing in my career, finishing my master’s degree as a single mom while working full time, learning a new skill of becoming a meditation teacher)….I realized what I learned was persistence and vision are a winning combination.

Persistence is the keeping going and not stopping even when you are tired and feel ready to give up. Sometimes there can be a perfect storm of events that conspire against us achieving our goals – illness, inner resistance, difficulty of the task and so much! The key to persistence is still taking the next action that moves you forward with belief in yourself, grounded in the stability that you know you can take the next step. Take the next step with your heart and your action will generate the momentum to keep going.

Vision is the other key in this winning combination to achieving a goal. Vision is seeing the end goal for achieved and already completed with the highest positive intention for all involved. This is seeing yourself walk across the stage and getting the degree, or finishing that new course, or learning that new skill – seeing the end goal completed with trust and positive outcomes. Your vision of the outcome will fuel your passion to continue and increase your faith in your ability to live the scene you envision.

So whenever you want to start a new project, always keep the end vision in mind with positive outcomes for the good of all beings, and know that you have the inner resources in yourself to persist, stick it out and reach objectives you set for yourself. Persistence and vision are like two sides a golden coin that you invest in yourself; spend it wisely!
